- Artwork story
- After a life and career in Sculpture in the United States, John Gardner relocated to Australia from New York City in the 1970’s. John built and ran the Gardner/Bailey Art Foundry at Bondi Beach. John gave lectures and taught sculpture at the Prahran College of Advanced Education as well as the National Art School and the Alexander Mackie College of Advanced Education and continues to teach sculpture casting techniques.
John is intent on exploring the relationship between the mind, matter and the interpretation of cultural iconography. The strength of John Gardner’s work is conveyed by the combinations and design of his choice of materials – bronze, stainless steel, aluminium, glass, sandstone, marble and granite.
