- The profile-shaped red hill in the bottom right-hand side of the painting is known as Mullugann. In the Ngarrangakrni he was a Dreamtime Munambarra (Law man or woman). Now he has turned to rock, and you can still see him today sitting in Pelican Hole (Baljarran’ga) Country. In the Dreamtime he told all the people not to go further north, but to stay in the country where there is plenty of kangaroo and emu. The small pinky white rock in the middle left-hand side of the painting is Gamanggarr, a place where powdery (white) ochre was mined and used for hunting. The white ochre (mawoondoo) was wiped over the hunter's body, particularly on the underside of the arm and around the sweat glands to mask and hide the human scent. This was a hunting strategy used by Gija people to help them spear larger prey like kangaroo and wallaby.
