Artwork story
The lines through this painting represent the sand-dune and water soakage areas through which an old woman, Kutungka Napanangka, travelled during her journey from the west. She then travelled further east through Ngatanga, Papunga and Yananga to Muruntji, southwest of Mount Liebig. This old woman is said to be a bit of a “devil devil” as she kills and eats people.
