ARTWORK STORY
This painting represents special freshwaters of a sacred site on Datiwuy clan land. The Datiwuy, Banambuna's husbands people have lore affected by the Djan'kawu creator beings during the period of time called Wagarr. These Beings traversed country creating the landscape and designating property and ownership to various Dhuwa clans as they went. They dug sacred wells that were to become the fonts of the peoples very identities.

The miny'tji or clan design in this work represents water effected by the Djan'kawu on Datiwuy land. Djanda is the totem Water Goanna for many of the Dhuwa clans, residing at these waterholes - a manifestation of the Djan'kawu themselves.
