- Artwork story
- Betty was born at Karunji Station where her father was a stockman. She was born in the bush while her parents were on walkabout. She came into Kalumburu Mission Convent where she was looked after by Ignatia Ganwalla and the nuns at the age of three after the death of her mother. She worked on the mission baking bread and at the Kalumburu school as a teaching aide. Betty has five children and six grandchildren and lived happily with her family in Kalumburu.
"Chindi" is a river near Kalumburu, is also the name of one type of Bush Potato. It is a good place to fish or walk. You must ask permission to cross to the other side of the river because it is a law ground.
