- Artwork story
- This painting illustrates a Tingari story at Walakurritje, a site west of Kintore in WA. The story tells of four Tjungurrayi men who, having travelled a long way, stopped at a dry rock-hole in the desert. Some thirsty emu men came up seeking water. One if the Tingari men threw his spear and pierced a cloud. A storm ensued and rain came down, filling the rock-hole with water. The emus and other animals drank water and danced around.
This is the Dreaming story of both the artist's father and step-father. The artist learnt the Dreaming story from her step-father along with the painting, the song, and the dance. The central roundel depicts the rock-hole with the four Tjungurrayi men drinking. The patches of colour nearby, and at the periphery, represent the flowers of bush tucker plants.
