- 'Goin up la Norton Bore way, that hill that side.' Madigan Thomas says. 'Little bit of black hill. Old Mabel Downs road. Horse and cattle, they drive 'em down from the jump -up, that bore this side. Minjarra [bush plum trees] up top. That creek's dried up, they killed the snake. Biggest creek, run all the time; dried up. All that minjarra got that spring. But I feel sorry for that spring, used to be full of water, too much.' This is Thomas' traditional. Thomas remembers the spring here being full of water all year but it is now dry. Bush plums are a small black edible fruit prized by Gija people.
