Artwork story: In the Ngarrangkarni (Dreaming) three girls were sent to a waterhole to get fish and water for the old people. Instead of geƫtng the water, the girls swam and played in the water all day, untill late in the afternoon. As it got dark, moorgal (bubbles) started to rise and bubble up (the dots). The girls saw the water was rising and tried to escape but Goorlabal (the rainbow snake) rose out of the water and grabbed them. They sank down into the water and were drowned. Madigan says she doesn't let her grandchildren swim and play in waterholes in the late afternoon as this can be very dangerous. Whenever you see lots of bubbles rising in the water it is a warning that it is time to stop fishing, and to leave the rainbow snake alone.
