Central Australian woomera with stone adze flake set in the handle. Circa early 20th Century. Shows signs of extensive use.
These are very versatile implements, in addition to launching a spear, they were used for holding food, or preparing pigments. The adze was used as a tool in the manufacture of other weapons and tools. They could also be used as an aid to making fire.
