$3,300.00

PROVENANCE
Warnayaka Art Centre Cat No. P-1028

ARTWORK STORY
The artist has depicted the wild bush tomato, a favoured food of the Warlpiri which grows in abundance through the Tanami desert region.

The bush tomato can be picked green and if left, it will turn to a colour more like the yellow in the background of this small but expressive work. The tomatoes are eaten fresh but are more often collected and dried by piercing them on long sticks and leaving them off the ground in the sun. They are then stored and eaten as desired as a rather savoury treat.
